The dawning of New Year’s Day might have seen a large percentage of the population shaking off a severe hangover, however serious turf players were already focusing on how they were going to make the next 365 days the most profitable of their lives! Presently, a battle plan must be charted that highlights the most important dates that we as equine lovers will be focusing on. In 2010, anything is possible with a little luck and a serious game plan. In front of us is an enormous virgin plain of possibility where, dare I say, the next Citation might be lurking. Let us now open our day timer and highlight the post times of magnitude for 2010 that will ultimately define our annual bottom line!

Kentucky Derby Preps: The Trail to the Twin Spires

Over the next couple of months, the hopeful masses will be narrowed down to the top 20 thoroughbreds who possess enough graded stakes earnings to qualify for “The Sport of Kings” ultimate prize. Only this upper echelon of horse flesh will have the honor of running for the roses beneath Churchill Downs’ Twin Spires in Louisville, Ky., on the first Saturday in May, this year on May 2.
