AirTran Airways Returns to the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport
GULFPORT — AirTran Airways flights will resume at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport on Jan. 8.
The non-stop flights will initially be three days a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, aboard a 117-seat Boeing 717. Seats are $69 to $99 each way based on advance purchase and are already on sale.
Jeremiah Gerald, director of air service and business development at the airport, said it’s been almost exactly a year since AirTran pulled out of the market. AirTran returned under a partnership between the IP Casino Resort, Grand Biloxi Casino and Aviation Advantage.
“We will continue to partner with Harrison County Tourism, the Gulf Coast Business Council and Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport to achieve our collective goal to one day become a tier-one destination,” said Steve Ditchkus, general manager of Grand Biloxi Casino Hotel.
“The benefits to our region’s tourism and business will be tremendous,” said Travis Lott Jr., chairman of Gulfport-Biloxi Regional Airport Authority. “We look forward to a prosperous partnership.”
